Protein.. What is protein ? As we are focused on sporting activities, we require numerous sources of proteins to complete the Amino Acid pool to ensure we recieve optimal muscle growth and recovery. Without good levels of protein in our daily diets we will diminish our bodies natural stores of Amino Acids which will lead to a negative state referred to as muscle catabolization. Other negative effects that can be prevented with a good intake of protein are lowering of the immune system and weakening of the heart and respiratory system. These negative effects can be reduced and even prevented by ensuring we consume adequate amounts of protein either by food sources or supplementation. Quality food sources that should be consumed for protein are , red & white meats, fish, eggs, nuts, vegetables, soya beans and lentils. Supplements that can be utilised for this are BCAA’s ( Branch Chain Amino Acids) L-Glutamine and Protein based formulas. We would recommend you try to avoid or limit fat laidened proteins such as whole milk, luncheon meat, hard cheeses, ground beef, bacon and pork chops. The reason behind this is due to the high amounts of saturated fatty acids (SFA’s) contained within. By supplementing your daily diet with protein base products you are ensuring you stay in a positive nitrogen balance. This will enhance overall health and sports peformance and recovery. A very important supplement we should all try an consume is L-Glutamine. L-Glutamine is considered as a conditionally non-essential amino acid. This statement means the body can produce it, but in times of stress or trauma such intense workouts the body’s stores will become depleted. This then compromises the muscle building environment causing longer recovery periods and limited muscle gain which is why dynamix feel a good supplement source of l-glutamine is required. |
